Claudio Bravo: The Unsung Hero of the November 2015 El Clasico

As soon as the latest El Clasico concluded at the Santiago Bernabeu, a question was raised among football fans.

Give that Barca won this fixture comprehensively, the obvious question was: who was the man of the match?

Obviously, it couldn’t be Messi. He came on with only about 30 minutes or so to go. Couldn’t be Ronaldo as he was nowhere to be seen, really.

becsoccerCould it be Luis? Or Neymar? Busquets or even Sergi Roberto were in the running as well. Or the magical ‘Don’? Everyone of these candidates were worthy of that award given their role in it, thanks to their assists and goals too.

Yes, Barca completely eclipsed Real Madrid completely with a 4-0 drubbing that will go down as historic indeed. There were absolutely no chances that were converted by Madrid – a seemingly toothless attack.

They just didn’t seem their normal selves as Barca piled on the pressure. Of course, Luis opened the scoring while Neymar made it two before halftime. Two more goals were to come in the second half by Don and Suarez to seal the deal.

Yet there was one player who delivered the goods time and time again – denying Madrid of a number of goals.

Bravo, who incidentally, was the keeper of the Copa America winning Chile side. He was simply unbeatable even if this Madrid side showed little fire at their own stadium.

Not very long after, the white hankies of surrender came out. Barca were clearly the superior side in every department of the game.

One wonders what Ter Stegen might have to say about Bravo’s performance, though.
