Kicking off the opening weekend to the Spring 2010 season, and after their 1st U12 MAPS Win on Saturday, the BEC U11 Girls won their first JAGS league game against the Marlboro Blue Firestars by a score of 3-0. The coaching staff saw a continuation of their enthusiasm and team play in Sunday’s win. Most of all, their hard work over the winter in their training sessions in addition to their solid play in their warm up events has definitely paid off for them individually and as a team.

March 20, 2010: In their first U12 MAPS game of the Spring 2010 Season, the U11 Celtics from BEC notched a win over the Middletown Riptide by a score of 2-1. Against a talented and physical team in the Riptide, BEC gave a strong performance in their first home field win of the Spring MAPS season. Down 1-0 at the halftime, the players came out in the second half and made the necessary adjustments to give themselves a chance to win. The coaching staff continues to be happy with their performance playing up in age in the MAPS’ league. Next on their MAPS schedule will be a much anticipated game against the Long Island Rough Riders.

This past Sunday, the BEC Girls hosted an exciting scrimmage/ friendly event that hosted some excellent U11 and U12 teams from the tri-state area. Included in the guest list were the Bergen Essex Celtic U11 Girls, Alberston Fury ‘98, North Rockland U12 Magic, Long Valley United Panthers, and the Toms River Fusion U11 Girls. Each team managed to get in 2 friendlies each, and amidst threatening Nor’Easter like weather, all the games were played and much needed touches and game time were logged for all the teams’ who were looking for good warm up action prior to their Jefferson Cup trip. The BEC Girls had a great match with Albertson Fury ‘98; playing them to a 3-0 loss with only 12 players. In their second game of the day, they came back in the second half to Tie the U12 Long Valley Panthers by a score of 2-2. All coaches from all 5 teams were very pleased with the day of friendlies as all players got in much needed game touches before the Spring Season kicks off.

The BEC U11 Girls in their 2nd spring warm-up event, finish with 2 wins and 1 loss vs U12 Competition at the NJ WILDCATS SPRING KICKOFF INVITATIONAL. In day 1 of the tournament, the U11 Girls won both their games against U12 teams from WALL and HOLMDEL STALLIONS, scoring 9 goals, and not allowing any. On Day 2, against an 18th ranked U12 team, TOMS RIVER SA FORCE, the BEC lost a very competitive match by the score of 2-1. The game was tied at 1-1 into the 45th minute, before TOMS RIVER SA FORCE scored from the top of the box to give them a 2-1 lead. The coaching staff was again very pleased with the players’ effort against older competition. While BEC had other offensive chances during the semifinal, TOMS RIVER SA FORCE kept their defensive pressure high to preserve the win. TOMS RIVER went on to win the tournament with a 1-0 win in the final vs the 12th ranked HOLMDEL BLUE STALLIONS.
