BEC U11 Girls finish JAGS season in a well fought match vs State Cup Champs in PDA O’Reilly
November 26th, 2009
In a tough game against the State Cup Winners vs PDA O’Reilly the BEC U11 Girls completed their JAGS Fall 2009 season with a 2-1 loss to the best team in the state. The game was scoreless up until the last minute of the 1st half when a PDA attacker put in a high shot above the BEC keeper’s head to give PDA a 1-0 lead at the half. BEC held tough defensively but could not mount enough attacks against the well trained PDA squad. The final score was a 2-1 loss to PDA. Since Meredith Rooney began training the girls this Fall, BEC has shown much improvement. Their final competitive record was a 8-3-1 game record, which reflected their week to week improvement since training began in late August. Their finalist showing in the Frederick Cup tournament in Kirkwood was pivotal; wherein the girls performed in the tournament short-handed and injured, and managed to put up good performances against some very good teams from Pennsylvania and Delaware. The Fall 2009 season was a resounding success on the development end as a team. The coaching staff is already looking forward to the U11 Girls getting into their winter training with high hopes of elevating their progress when the Spring season arrives. Coach Rooney, Livingstone and Callaghan are very satisfied with the team’s success and site a bright future for the BEC girls who have yet to celebrate a full year of training together.
