U10 Girls Make it to U11 Semi-Finals @ Indoor State Cup!

February 19th, 2009

Our U10 Girls went 2-1-1 at the Indoor State Cup in Randolph NJ, this past Saturday at the Indoor Sports Pavilion. The girls played “UP” against all U11 squads, and held their own throughout the course of 4 games. The most exciting of the 4 contests came against the Arsenal Dynamites, a successful JAGS squad that gave the girls all they could handle. After leading the game 1-nil, the Arsenal team then fought back and tied the game 1-1. BEC lost in the semi-final match against Holmdel; who would later go on to win the tournament in penalty kicks against the Arsenal Dynamites. For our first real taste of competition and only having trained together for “4 Weeks”, the coaching staff all agree that the girls are headed in the right direction!

Week 3 Training Highlights/ BEC Player-Parents’ Party

February 3rd, 2009

The U10 Girls team had a very good workout on their 3rd weekend training session. Trainer Rob Leather was very pleased with the players’ hard work, and the girls are beginning to gel as a team. Ball Movement, Creating Angles and Playing into Space were the hot topics during practice.

Afterwards, the coaching staff arranged a great casual party at Jim Dandy’s, a local pub in Nutley. Most of the players and parents were able to participate. To the few that were unable to attend, you were missed but there will be other gatherings for the team in the future. Forging good friendships amongst players, parents, and coaches off the field is an important part of what BEC is building with the club and its teams. Lastly, our “Mission Statement” has been posted on our website. Please take the time to visit the link.
